Arts Jobs Artists Wanted for Major London Art Fair, The Other Art Fair

London Closes Friday 16 March 2012 Paid (£10k-15k pro rata) (voluntary worker) Part timeArtform: combined artsvisual arts   Contact: Ryan Stanier stephanie@pagetpr.com

Description

A London art fair is looking for all types of artists' submissions to participate in its mid-May launch. Applications for artists to participate in the larger, second instalment of this fair are currently open. Following the success the of inaugural launch of the fair in November 2011, this Spring the fair will open at the Ambika P3 at University of Westminster. A truly unique artistic venture, the fair will once again give artists the opportunity to apply to be one of the 100 chosen artists to participate in this year’s fair from 10 May – 13 May 2012. The fair is unlike any other fair, providing a platform for artists that allow them to build their profile whilst also giving the opportunity to connect with collectors and gallerists directly.
Last year the fair debuted as a brand new contemporary art fair at The Bargehouse in London’s famous South Bank. Over three and a half days, the fair received 4,300 visitors and 1,200 attended the private view. Collectors spent over £120,000 on art with thousands more spent after the fair. Two artists single handily sold over £10,000 worth of art works while many artists were approached by prominent galleries for representation including Scream, Rove, Opera Gallery, Rook and Raven and Rosenfeld Porcini.
Applauded for its exceptional foresight, the fair strayed away from the formulaic approach of other fairs by encouraging emerging talent to sell their works directly to the public rather than through gallery intermediaries. Chosen out of hundreds of applicants by a committee of art world professionals- including international unsigned artist Charming Baker and Director at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Godfrey Worsdale- only 100 of Britain’s brightest talent participated. Creating a rare bond between artists and buyers, the fair fostered talent that would peak buyers’ interest and attracted the attention of galleries in the UK and abroad.
